Would you like to learn how to play the piano? I teach people how to do just that from the comfort of my home studio in the Failsworth area of north Manchester. You can see more photos of the studio at the bottom of this page.
Hi, my name’s Pete.
I’ve played the piano for more than twenty years and achieved several grades at Manchester’s Royal Northern College of Music.
I would love it if you became my next student!
People of all ages and abilities are most welcome. Parents and guardians can sit in the studio during lessons, and of course, I’ve passed the DBS checks.
All lessons are fun, friendly and cater to your needs.
How much do the lessons cost?
The usual prices are listed below, try a taster lesson and get 50% discount:
- 30 minutes – £15
- 45 minutes – £20
- 60 minutes – £25
You’re bound to have questions. I do my best to answer the most common ones below, but feel free to call me if you have any more or want to talk about learning the piano.
What happens during lessons?
Most people taking piano lessons are absolute beginners, so we’ll start learning scales and chords. As we progress further, we’ll work on improving your playing skills and learn how to read music.
Children usually learn from a book called Tunes for 10 Fingers by Pauline Hall. Typically, they are able to play popular favourites like Jingle Bells, Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star and Old MacDonald Had a Farm after a few lessons.
Adults learn from a book by Michael Aron called Piano Course.
Both of these books are available to buy at the cost price of £5.00 each.
Can I bring along a parent, friend or guardian?
You are more than welcome to bring along a parent, friend or guardian. Inside the studio is a comfortable sofa for visitors to sit on during lessons.
Can you teach me to grade levels?
Yes.
What type of piano do you use?
In my home studio, I have an upright piano and a Roland RD700 keyboard. You can use either of these or if you prefer, you can bring your own keyboard.
What time slots are available?
I usually give lessons between 9am and 5pm, but I can be flexible and work out a solution for you.
If I have to cancel a lesson do I still have to pay?
You don’t pay if you give me 24 hours notice, but if you cancel within a shorter timeframe, then yes, you still have a to pay for the lesson.
Do you offer discounts?
Yes, if you book and pay for four lessons or more, I offer a 10% discount.
Can you travel to me?
Yes, I can give piano or keyboard lessons at your home. The rate for home tuition is £15 per 30 minutes.
What my pupils say
Pete teaches in a fun way, specially catered to my child’s individual learning needs. My son can already play lots of tunes and he’s already completed two books.
He looks forward to his weekly piano lessons.
Lou
Both our children wanted to learn to play the piano, we also wanted them to learn to read music and Peter makes each lesson interesting and clear.
The girls have started playing songs from sheet music and their enthusiasm is electric.
Pete offers great encouragement and is very skilled, incorporating talent with the ability to communicate effectively to aid learning.
The girls love their lessons! Each day they come home from school and go straight onto the keyboard – amazing what Peter has achieved – thank you!
I have found Peter’s piano course a real pleasure to attend, having received first-class lessons over the past year. The atmosphere is relaxed and professional with lessons given at a level and pace which is challenging, but the results for me have been amazing.
I would recommend Peter’s tutoring to any budding piano/keyboard player.
Thanks, Peter!
Steve
